Leighton Asia’s Black Point Power Station Additional Gas-Fired Generation Unit D1 – Civil Works project has achieved the Platinum rating under the Building Environmental Assessment Method.
Accredited by the Hong Kong Green Building Council, the project has been recognised for its excellence in sustainable architectural performance in terms of energy efficiency, use of sustainable materials, waste management, carbon emission reduction and water conservation.
This award showcases Leighton Asia’s commitment to continually improve and innovate to deliver safe, cost-efficient, and sustainable assets of lasting value that will benefit the community.
Black Point Power Station is one of the world’s largest gas-fired combined cycle power stations. Our construction of the civil works for this new Unit D1 is part of CLP’s plan to expand its overall generation capacity. It features a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine, which significantly increases the plant’s efficiency and supports the government’s carbon intensity reduction targets.
Highlights of Leighton Asia’s green initiatives on the project include the following:
- Procurement of regionally manufactured materials to reduce transportation energy requirements
- Use of sustainable temporary works materials
- Provision of waste management facilities and processes to optimise recycling
- Provision of effective water pollution control processes during the critical deep excavation works and works adjacent to the seawalls
