North Lantau Hospital
To serve the healthcare needs of the growing community in the residential development of Tung Chung on Lantau Island, where Hong Kong’s international airport and a number of major tourist attractions are located, the government launched the first phase of the North Lantau Hospital.
Among the key medical facilities and services provided under this phase are 160 inpatient beds and 20 day beds for ambulatory services including an Accident and Emergency department. There are also primary care and specialist outpatient clinics, a day rehabilitation centre, an ambulatory surgery centre and much needed community care services.
Inpatient and outpatient services are supported by a state-of-the-art radiology suite, ultrasound scanner, blood bank and other diagnostic and treatment facilities.
The first phase of the hospital project required us to build a seven-storey C-shaped block on top of a single-storey podium. We also prepared the 1.9-hectare site, built associated car parking, an internal road network and a new road link and we were responsible for protecting, planting and transplanting trees on the site.
